We are seeing an explosion of entrepreneurship. Start thinking about distribution now.
Going for my idea to prototype has never been easier. But with it comes more reliance on distribution. Get prepared now.
We're about to see an explosion of entrepreneurship. Scratch that…we already are!
And it’s great to see.
With new rapid development apps popping up and enabling non technical founders to go from idea to live product in hours and days, not months, there has never been a better time to get into the creative side of entrepreneurship.
If you want a couple deep dives on what is happening in the industry, here are two great interviews:
Here’s a great interview with the founder of Lovable, one of the products I’ve been playing around with:
And another from
Lenny Rachitsky
with the founder of Bolt, another product that looks awesome (but I have not yet tested it out):
It’s safe to say that going from idea to prototype has never been easier. The new tools are absolutely incredible.
What are likely to start seeing is a lot more velocity of product launches. We're going to see tens if not hundreds of thousands of people of ideas, getting them into the wild.
However, the challenge is still going to be around finding, acquiring, and retaining customers. Think about how hard it already is to get from idea to successful company. For most of us it takes many years of hard work to get to any sense of stability with our companies. No double, triple or even 10X the number of new start ups hitting the market and we're in for a world where distribution becomes even more important
Which is why I'd urge you to think about distribution even earlier than you think you need to. For every new product hitting the market, and for every clone of a product on the market that is about to be released, there is going to be more competition to find and acquire customers.
I recently posted a short video on this topic, which you can see below or on LinkedIn.
The main takeaway is that yes, build on your idea, because that is fun. Test out the new products and tools. But think about distribution now, because ideas that get to market faster and build distribution are going be the ones that have a massive head start.
I have 3 resources to share with you, depending on where you are at in your journey:

If you are in market but are wondering why you may not be converting as many users as you think you should be, you may have a positioning problem. I did a speaking engagement just this week all about positioning, and put some resources up on my blog here.
Lastly, if you are interested in understanding where your growth opportunities are, I am giving away 3 free mini growth audits to my newsletter audience. Get a free growth audit here.
